German artist Herbert Allwicher selects only the highest quality imported silk to use as a canvas for his brilliant work.

The silk is painted and then fixed by an elaborate steaming process to make it light- and wash-fast. Each and every piece is a unique expression of Mr. Allwicher's style, and sure to draw admiration.

Mr. Allwicher has worked for many years as a self-taught painter of silk scarves, blouses, t-shirts, and abstract silk paintings.

His interest in modern painting, in particular, the "action" style of artist Jackson Pollock, is reflected in his own diverse work. Mr. Allwicher also gains inspiration from artists Mark Rothko, Robert Motherwell, Franz Kline, and Sam Francis.
